Introduction

10:25pm, 25th June 1960... White City, London.

Much has been written about the 1960 Greyhound Derby where Duleek Dandy, my grandparents' dog and a complete outsider at 25-1, romped home bringing a grimace to the face of many a well seasoned bookmaker. Greyhound racing in recent years has seen some decline, but back in 1960 it was big business and very popular with the public.

This website is an informal tribute to my grandparents Bill and Vicki Dash, Duleek Dandy and any of the local people of Meldreth, Cambridgeshire and Duleek, Co Meath, Ireland who were involved with the dog. I have deliberately kept things simple so that it is easy to read.

The photos and press cuttings have been scanned from our family archives. I hope that you find the site of interest.
